Whether you’re the quiet one, the talkative one or the meeting planner, if you are able to accommodate, you will contribute equally to the success of the company and the overall good mood.
The Quiet and the Talkative Coworker
There are many stereotypes surrounding both types, which we might lump together because there are certainly some in every office, one of which you will fall into as well. The contrast between them is perhaps one of the sharpest.
But what stereotypes surround these two types? Well, the quiet co-worker may be thought by some to be more unfriendly and aloof, grumpy overall. It’s an unpleasant stereotype that anyone who’s worked in such a place knows isn’t true. Quiet co-workers simply work best that way, they need a calmer environment to stay focused and get on with their work. They take a break too, and when they do, they are really sociable and fun to be with.
The more talkative, generally more bubbly employees are often thought of as people who don’t work, at least not as much as others. This stereotype is also wrong, however, because there are some people who simply cannot sit still for 8 hours a day, they need to move and talk, and feeling good at their workplace is what makes them truly productive.
