A 3-Day La Jolla Itinerary Built Around Sunsets, Seafood, and Shore Walks
La Jolla is a wonderful coastal destination where days are filled with sunlight, ocean air and activities that are enough to pack your schedule full for quite some time. Three days might not be enough to experience everything but you’d be able to enjoy many of the simple pleasures that make this part of San Diego’s coastline so popular. So, let’s check a short (and rather interesting) itinerary which will fill your days with scenery, good food and magnificent beaches.
Day one
You’ve already arrived at La Jolla. Now’s the time to enjoy the sun. The coastline is calm, relaxed, making it easy to settle in and start exploring. The afternoon is a wonderful moment to get started with a walk along the Coast Walk Trail. You’d be able to enjoy the cliffs dropping into the Pacific as well as the sound of the waves that follows you with every step. And once you’ve reached the end of the trail, you’re going to find yourself at the La Jolla Cove, one of the most recognizable spots around here.
Don’t hesitate to explore. Don’t move too quickly. Rather, enjoy your time here because that’s one of the most magnificent places in the area. If you’re lucky, you’ll get the chance to see some sea lions and you’ll get to experience one of the best sunsets in your life.
Then you can head to dinner somewhere along the coast. You’d be able to taste some fresh seafood while gazing at the magnificent ocean views. And you can also pick to stay at la jolla vacation rentals along the beach to enjoy the scenery and the luxury even more.
Day two
Start your day with a walk along the shoreline near Windansea Beach or Marine Street Beach. You’d be able to experience a more residential feeling, a quieter one, where the sound of the waves is still quite nearby.
Then you can visit the rocky areas near Shell Beach where the marine life will show you its true colors. The ones you’ll never forget because they’re simply amazing. Of course, make sure you’re safe and be careful.
Lunch is another time to taste all the flavors of La Jolla. You can experience the beach food and have some fun at the beach itself or you can head out to the village and explore the restaurants there and the galleries and shops afterwards. If the evening’s closing in, the coast can reveal its magic once more. And if you’ve picked a beach house san diego to stay at, you’d be able to have a BBQ, spend some time on the patio and have a quiet evening with the sound of the waves as a companion.
Day three
What we recommend here is a relaxed breakfast followed by a coastal walk. If you’ve got enough time, you can enjoy some adventures with kayaking or snorkeling along the La Jolla Shores to see the coastline in a completely different perspective.
Yes, three days surely haven’t been enough to experience all that La Jolla has to offer. But they’re more than enough to get an experience which you’d never forget. And see where the magic of this coastal town truly lies.
